The Best Exotic Marigold Hotel - movie review

First off - I loved this movie!  I was so excited to see it playing at my local theater.  "The Best Exotic Marigold Hotel" is a retirement destination in India for "the elderly and beautiful."  So far, so good -- the brochure is a delight on the eyes.  The price makes retirement possible for seven Brits making the move -- all for different reasons.

The cast is amazing -- Judi Dench, Maggie Smith, Bill Nighy and Tom Wilkinson.  Wow - I love all these actors.  Celia Imrie plays a woman after my own heart - she's a feisty thing.  And Ronald Pickup is a total delight.   Dev Patel (you may remember him from Slumdog Millionaire) plays the enthusiastic and optimistic owner of the Hotel.  I think we need more of his kind in the world!

This movie is charming, funny and heartwarming.  I didn't know it until I watched the credits -- this movie is based on the novel 'These Foolish Things' by Deborah Moggach.   Now I can't wait to read the book.

I didn't want to give too much away in case you go see the movie -- if you do, tell me what you think!!

Peace,
Kay

Drat, I read the book and left it in the apartment in Spain for others to enjoy. It's a bit different to the film but worth a read.

Finally, I got out today and posted your ATC honey! Di xx

Someone else I know was recently talking about this movie. It doesn't sound like my kind of thing. Have you heard of the movie God Bless America? Now THAT sounds like my kind of thing. I'm afraid to watch it though. It may give me ideas.

Hi there Kay, well Steve and I don't make it to the movies very often . . . we are the fall a sleep in front of the boob tube kind of people, especially me. We have a shelf of DVDs and VHSs and Steve tells everyone that I've seen the beginning of all of our movies. I just get relaxed in the evening and can't seem to keep my eys open, LOL. This movie does sound fun, maybe we will caught it on TV next year. Thanks for stopping by and visiting, I always look forward to your visits. Have a wonderful day. Connie :)
P.S. I LOVE the photos of your trip to Colorado. That old store with all the cars and gas pumps is fabulous. I am so happy that you carry our camera with you wherever you go. Thanks for sharing your adventures.

I went to see the movie a few months ago with a friend. We both thoroughly enjoyed it. The cast was amazing and all play their roles brilliantly.
Don't be put off by the storyline because there's something in there for everyone.
I laughed and shed a tear...a great movie and would recommend anyone to go and see it!
I'll be getting the DVD when it comes out too ;D
Have a great weekend Kay!
